Movies in a Subway Tunnel!

December 8th, 2010 by gothamfilm received 1 Comment »

The Atlantic Avenue Tunnel in Cobble Hill is officially the world’s oldest Subway tunnel. This weekend, Rooftop Films turns it into New York’s most badass place to watch movies.

If you wake up Saturday or Sunday morning feeling both adventurous and in the mood for a flick, this is for you. For these screenings, you “enter the Atlantic Avenue Tunnel via a ladder through a manhole in the middle of Atlantic Avenue. Traffic is blocked off, but you should definitely wear comfortable shoes and those who are incapable of climbing up and down a 10 feet ladder should not plan on attending the event.”

The screenings, which consist of 4 new short films, are at 1pm on Saturday and Sunday. After the 2-hour program, there will be an after party w/ complimentary drinks at local bar Last Exit. Advanced tickets for Saturday are sold out but you can still get some for Sunday online here.

Entrance to the tunnel is be at Atlantic Ave & Court St, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Come prepared to climb up and down that 10 foot ladder. The shorts being screened are below the jump.

Bugcrush is the story of Ben, a small-town high school loner, whose fascination with Grant, a dangerously seductive new kid, leads him into something much more sinister than he could ever have imagined.
