How to see The Social Network tonight at the New York Film Festival

Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, Jessie Eisenberg (Mark Zuckerberg), and director David Fincher at the New York Film Festival this morning
David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin’s new film, The Social Network, is, to date, the best movie of 2010, as well as the best movie out of Hollywood I’ve seen in years (we’ll elaborate in a separate post). Tonight New Yorkers have a special chance to see the World Premiere of the film as the opening night selection of the New York Film Festival.
There are two screenings tonight. One at 6pm and another at 9pm. 6pm is the Festival screening, and 9pm is the Gala screening. Both are at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center (65th/Bway). They will probably feature Q&A’s afterwards with David Fincher, Aaron Sorkin, Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Justin Timberlake, who were all at today’s NYFF press screening.
Are they both sold out? Of course. But there are still ways to get in:
1. Call the box office and check for newly released tickets
The box office holds a certain amount of tickets for each screening, and will often release some as the screening approaches. Give Lincoln Center a call at 212.721.6500 and you might just get lucky.
2. Wait for Stand-By tickets
For every NYFF screening, stand-by tickets are given away on the day of the show, about an hour before the screening. All you have to do is show up to Alice Tully Hall (65th/Bway) early and wait in the stand-by line. For a hot screening like this, we recommend getting in line as early as humanly possible.
3. Craigslist
Last but not least, there are tickets going around on Craiglist, check for some here.
